Quick verdict
Verdict up front: The Soulog Sense is a 3.15mm-thin magnetic AI voice recorder that sticks to the back of your phone, records for over 50 hours per charge, and — unusually for this category — transcribes everything free and unlimited, with no subscription required. It costs $139.99 (currently $126 direct from Soulog at launch). The catch is in the fine print of its plans: the AI summaries and context features most people will actually want are capped hard on the free tier.
What the Soulog Sense is
Sense is an ultra-thin card-style recorder from Soulog Inc., a Delaware company entering consumer AI hardware. It measures about 4.0 × 2.5 inches, is just 0.124 inches (3.15mm) thick, and weighs 46 grams (1.6 oz). It attaches magnetically to compatible phones and cases — magnetic on both sides, so a card wallet can ride on the other face — and has separate physical switches for power and recording, so starting a capture is a flip, not an app hunt. Inside are 8GB of storage, two MEMS microphones and a VPU, with a stated pickup range of up to 5 meters (about 16 feet) and AI noise reduction. It charges over standard USB-C: a 10-minute charge is rated for about 8 hours of use, and a full charge for over 50 hours of continuous recording. Those are Soulog’s figures, based on specs and the company’s launch materials rather than our hands-on testing.
The feature that stands out: 30-minute Rewind
Sense’s signature trick is Rewind: if a conversation turns important before you thought to record it, you can save up to the previous 30 minutes of audio. Read the footnote on Soulog’s own site, though — Rewind only works if you enabled it and set its active hours in Settings beforehand, and the device must be powered on and inside those hours. It is a safety net you have to rig in advance, not a time machine.
What the pricing page doesn’t make obvious
Soulog’s pricing page (checked November 1, 2026) holds the detail rival coverage keeps getting wrong: transcription never uses Credits and is unlimited on every plan, including the free Starter plan. Credits — 200 a month on Starter, 2,000 on Pro, 6,000 on Max — are only spent on premium extras like long tasks and chat Q&A, and subscription Credits expire each month with no rollover (paid add-on packs, at $0.012 per Credit, never expire). The real free-tier limit is elsewhere: Starter includes only 10 Recaps (AI summaries with Context Map & Timeline) per month. Pro ($19.99/month, or $9.99/month billed annually) makes Recap unlimited and adds speaker identification; Max ($29.99/month, or $19.99 annually) adds MCP connection to tools like Claude Code and Codex. The 7-day Pro trial also auto-converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
How it compares
Against the Plaud Note Pro, Sense is thinner, cheaper, and far more generous on transcription, but Plaud’s ecosystem and meeting features are more mature — see our Best AI Voice Recorders in 2026 roundup for the full field. The UMEVO Note ONE matches Sense on thinness at 3.1mm, but its AI features lean harder on paid tiers. On privacy, Soulog says recordings are encrypted on the device, in transit, and in cloud storage, cloud sync is off by default, and content is not sold or used to train models.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Free, unlimited transcription on every plan — no subscription needed
- Over 50 hours of recording per charge; 10-minute charge gives about 8 hours
- Just 3.15mm thick and magnetic on both sides, with physical record switch
- 30-minute Rewind can rescue conversations you forgot to record
Cons
- Free Starter plan caps AI Recaps and summaries at 10 per month
- Rewind must be enabled in advance and only works inside set active hours
- Subscription Credits expire monthly with no rollover
- New, unproven brand in a category with maturing rivals
Who it’s for
Sense suits professionals, students, and journalists who record a lot and resent paying monthly just to read their own transcripts. If you mostly need reliable capture plus searchable text, the free tier is genuinely sufficient. If you live on AI summaries, factor Pro at $9.99/month billed annually into the real price before comparing it with Plaud.
FAQ
Is Soulog Sense transcription really free?
Yes. Soulog’s pricing page states transcription is unlimited and free on every plan, including the free Starter plan, and never uses Credits.
How long does the Soulog Sense battery last?
Soulog rates it at over 50 hours of continuous recording on a full charge, with a 10-minute USB-C charge providing about 8 hours of typical use.
What does the Soulog subscription actually pay for?
Pro and Max pay for unlimited AI Recaps and summaries, speaker identification, and — on Max — MCP connections to external AI tools. Transcription is not part of the paywall.
Does Rewind record everything all the time?
No. Rewind must be switched on and given active hours in Settings in advance, and it can only save the previous 30 minutes while the device is on during those hours.
