Smartsheet has launched vsActual, a new AI-native planning and execution product, alongside new AI agents and agentic workflows for its core platform. The announcements came at ENGAGE 2026, the company’s annual customer conference in Bellevue.
November 4, 2026 — Why it matters: Smartsheet is aiming its AI at a specific, expensive problem it calls “execution drift” — the gap between what a company plans and what its teams actually deliver.
What happened
Smartsheet unveiled vsActual as a standalone product designed to connect strategic planning to live execution. Its AI reads a company’s strategy wherever it currently lives — presentation decks, budget memos, spreadsheets — and turns it into a living plan with goals, timelines, and guardrails such as budget and staffing capacity. Every new work request is then scored against that plan.
Behind the product is what Smartsheet calls the Execution Graph, which maps how work connects from individual tasks through projects and programs to strategic goals. The company says the graph is built on 20 years of workflow intelligence from millions of projects and nine petabytes of data.
The details
According to Smartsheet, vsActual can model scenarios against live budget and capacity data before a leader commits, flag budget overruns, schedule delays, and resource conflicts as they happen, and generate executive summaries automatically from reconciled data. The company is explicit about one boundary: agents cannot change the plan on their own, and every recommendation comes with its reasoning for a leader to review.
vsActual is designed to read across systems teams already use — including Oracle, SAP, Workday, Salesforce, Jira, and ServiceNow — rather than requiring work to move into Smartsheet. Smartsheet has not specified general availability dates or pricing for vsActual in its announcement; interested customers are directed to sign up for updates.
The core platform got its own releases the same day. Agentic Workflows, available today, turn a plain-language request — a weekly project summary, or a check on risks and dependencies — into a recurring task that runs on its own. Two specialized agents are also available today: a Creation Agent that builds sheets, dashboards, reports, and automations from a plain-language goal, and a Data Quality Agent that reviews sheets and flags issues ranked by severity. Native integrations with ServiceNow, Microsoft Dynamics 365, HubSpot, and Workday are available today, and an Integration Agent starting with GitHub, Zendesk, Airtable, and Monday.com is in early access. Smartsheet also announced ISO/IEC 42001 certification for AI management, an Australian IRAP assessment, Security Event Streaming, and Data Classification controls.
Why it matters
Most enterprise AI launches this year have promised faster individual work. Smartsheet’s pitch is different: individuals are already faster, and that is precisely what pulls plans apart. Whether vsActual works will depend on the quality of that cross-system view — reading live data from a dozen tools is easy to announce and hard to keep accurate.
For buyers, the practical items available today are the workflows and agents in the existing platform, not vsActual itself, which is still in sign-up-for-updates territory. Our take: treat vsActual as a direction statement with a serious data asset behind it, and judge Smartsheet’s AI on the agents you can actually turn on this week. Everything AI, tested.
