Plaud One is a pair of AI recording earbuds whose charging case carries its own eSIM and 4G connection, so it can record, upload, and transcribe your calls and meetings without your phone anywhere nearby. The Limited Explorer Edition costs $249.99 with the Starter Plan (300 transcription minutes a month) and $200 in Plaud credits included. Based on the specs and Plaud’s own product pages, it is the most ambitious AI notetaker Plaud has made — and, as an explicitly limited beta-style release, the one to buy with your eyes open.
What is Plaud One?
Plaud One is Plaud’s first earbud-form notetaker. Where the card-shaped Plaud Note sticks to the back of a phone and the Plaud NotePin S clips to your clothes, Plaud One lives in your ears and on the meeting table. The earbuds record phone and online calls (both sides of the conversation), while the case — with a 4-MEMS microphone array and AI beamforming, picking up voices up to 16.4 feet away — records in-person conversations. Everything is transcribed and summarised by Plaud Intelligence in 112 languages, and a dedicated agent button lets you delegate follow-up tasks by voice.
Key specs: eSIM case, two recording modes, 25-hour case recording
- Microphones: each earbud has 3 MEMS + 1 VPU microphone (pickup up to about 6.5 feet); the case has 4 MEMS microphones with AI beamforming (up to 16.4 feet)
- Connectivity: built-in eSIM with 4G LTE in the case — records and uploads without a phone; LTE access is included with the Explorer Edition
- Recording time: up to 6 hours continuous from the earbuds, up to 25 hours from the case
- Listening time: 4 hours with ANC on, 6 hours with ANC off; up to 36 hours total with the case; 10-minute quick charge adds about 100 minutes
- Included plan: Plaud Starter Plan with 300 transcription minutes per month, plus $200 in Plaud credits for Plaud Intelligence features
- AI features: transcription in 112 languages, summaries and action items, and Plaud Agent access by button and voice
Against Plaud’s own Plaud Note Pro at $189, the extra $60 buys you the earbud call recording and the phone-free 4G case — the Note Pro still wins on raw endurance, with up to 50 hours of recording. Our roundup of the best AI voice recorders shows where both sit against the wider field.
What the $249.99 price doesn’t make obvious
Three catches are stated on Plaud’s own pages but easy to miss. First, this is a genuinely limited release: the Explorer Edition is capped at 2,000 units worldwide and sold in only eight countries (the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands) — and Plaud’s own blog confirms the current pre-order round has closed, with a waitlist open for the next one. Second, the headline $200 in Plaud credits is not permanent and not cash: Plaud’s support pages say Explorer pre-order credits (20,000 of them) are valid for 12 months from activation and only spend on eligible Plaud Intelligence features. Third, the agent capabilities that justify the “built for the agent era” pitch run on beta features, some arriving through later firmware updates — you are partly paying for what Plaud One will become.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Only AI notetaker that records calls through earbuds and meetings through a standalone 4G case
- Works completely without a phone — eSIM and LTE included in the Explorer Edition
- Case records up to 25 hours; 112-language transcription with summaries and action items
- $200 in Plaud credits and the 300-minute/month Starter Plan included
Cons
- Explorer Edition capped at 2,000 units; current pre-order round closed, waitlist only
- Earbud recording tops out at 6 hours — far behind the Note Pro’s 50 hours
- Included credits expire 12 months after activation; heavy use needs Pro ($99.99/year) or Unlimited ($239.99/year)
- Agent features are beta and partly firmware-pending
Who it’s for
Buy Plaud One if your workday is back-to-back calls and meetings and you want both captured, transcribed, and summarised without babysitting a phone app — and you are comfortable being an early adopter. Skip it if you need a recorder you can buy and deploy today (the waitlist rules that out), if you record long in-person sessions (the Note Pro or NotePin S last far longer), or if a subscription for transcription minutes puts you off.
Frequently asked questions
Does Plaud One work without a phone?
Yes. The charging case has a built-in eSIM with 4G LTE, so it can record and upload conversations on its own; LTE access is included with the Explorer Edition. The earbuds record calls and the case records in-person conversations up to about 16.4 feet away.
How much does Plaud One cost, and what is included?
The Limited Explorer Edition is $249.99 and includes the Plaud Starter Plan (300 transcription minutes per month) plus $200 in Plaud credits. If you outgrow the Starter Plan, Plaud Pro costs $99.99 per year for 1,200 minutes per month and Unlimited costs $239.99 per year, per Plaud’s pricing pages.
Can I buy Plaud One now?
Not immediately. The Explorer Edition is limited to 2,000 units across eight countries, and Plaud says the current pre-order round has closed with a waitlist open for the next round. Shipping timing is shown at checkout when orders reopen.
Do the included Plaud credits expire?
Yes. Plaud’s support documentation says the Explorer Edition’s 20,000 pre-order credits ($200 worth) are valid for 12 months from activation, and they can only be spent on eligible Plaud Intelligence features.
