Apple Opens Siri AI to Every App in the iOS 27.3 Developer Preview

Apple has opened Siri AI to every developer: a new preview in the iOS 27.3 beta lets any app plug its content and actions directly into the assistant through App Intents. Why it matters: Siri AI’s abilities no longer stop at Apple’s own apps and a short list of approved categories.

What happened

Apple released the Siri AI Developer Preview on November 3 across the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas. In its developer announcement, “Siri AI is now open to all developers,” Apple says any app can bring its content and actions into Siri AI using App Intents, drawing on the assistant’s personal context, onscreen awareness and natural-language understanding. Apple’s examples are everyday jobs: checking a delivery, booking a reservation, placing an order.

Skills chain actions together

The new piece is “skills”: developers can teach Siri AI to combine several actions into a single experience, so one request can run a multi-step task instead of a single command. Users will not always have to name the app, either — that holds while the app is in the foreground, during its Live Activity, or inside an ongoing Siri conversation about it. Apple is rolling the same capabilities into 15 of its own apps, including Calendar, Mail, Maps, Messages, Photos and Safari. Siri AI also expands to four more languages soon: Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese, on top of the current six.

The limits, stated plainly

This is a developer preview, not a launch. The integrations run only in developer builds, Apple says they will ship to customers “in a few months,” and App Store submissions for them open in the spring. Siri AI requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language, is not available to users under 13, and remains unavailable in the European Union on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple is holding developer labs on November 4–5 and says terms and usage policies will follow.

Why it matters

An assistant is only as useful as the apps it can reach. Opening Siri AI to any app — and letting developers script multi-step skills — is Apple’s move toward an assistant that finishes tasks inside the apps people actually use, instead of answering questions about them. The catch is timing: developers can build now, but users will not see the results for months.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Siri AI with third-party apps now?

No. The November 3 preview is for developers on the 27.3 betas. Apple says the integrations ship to customers in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in the spring.

How do developers connect an app to Siri AI?

Through Apple’s App Intents framework, which lets an app expose its content and actions to Siri AI. A new “skills” feature lets developers combine several actions into one conversational request.

Which devices and regions are supported?

Siri AI needs an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language. It is not available to users under 13 and remains unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS.
