Anthropic Gives Claude Two New Powers: Live Data Dashboards and Animated Explainer Videos

Anthropic launched two new Claude features in beta on October 8, 2026: Claude Dashboards, which turns plain-text questions into live, self-updating business dashboards, and Claude Motion, which turns text and diagrams into animated explainer videos you can edit as code. Docs, Slides, and Design are also leaving beta and will now be available on every Claude plan, including free accounts.

San Francisco — October 9, 2026

What launched

Claude Dashboards connects to data platforms such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, and Snowflake, plus Salesforce, and builds dashboards from a plain-language request. Claude writes the queries, picks the charts, and keeps everything current as the underlying data changes. Every number in a dashboard shows the query behind it and when it was last refreshed, and dashboards can be sent onward to tools like Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, or Sigma for deeper analysis. Support for Looker, monday.com, and Tableau is planned.

Claude Motion takes a different approach from most AI video tools. Instead of generating footage or synthetic people, it writes editable code that animates your text, shapes, charts, and images. Change a word, a number, or the timing, then export an MP4 or open the result in tools like Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Luma, or Runway. Canva and Captions integrations are coming.

Who gets what

Dashboards is in beta on Claude’s paid plans. Motion is in beta for Team and Enterprise customers. On enterprise accounts, both tools are disabled by default until an administrator turns them on. The Docs, Slides, and Design tools — which have already produced more than 45 million documents, decks, and designs, according to Anthropic — are leaving beta and will work across all plans including free.

Why it matters

This is Anthropic turning Claude from a chatbot into a small office suite. Dashboards go straight at the “quick question for the analytics team” workflow: instead of filing a ticket or learning a BI tool, a manager asks in plain English. The honest caveat is accuracy — a polished dashboard that quietly misreads a messy database field is worse than no dashboard at all. The visible query behind every number is Anthropic’s answer to that concern, and it’s the right instinct.

For anyone running a business — including the small ones we care about here — the free availability of Docs, Slides, and Design is the more immediately useful part. Dashboards and Motion are the experiment worth watching: if agents can reliably turn business data into trustworthy visuals, the gap between having data and using it gets a lot smaller.

Quick questions

Do I need a paid Claude plan to try these? For Dashboards, yes — it’s in beta on paid plans. Motion requires Team or Enterprise. Docs, Slides, and Design now work on every plan, including free.

Does Claude Motion generate AI people or footage? No. Anthropic says Motion writes code that animates your own content — no generated footage and no AI-generated people.

Can I push a Claude dashboard into my existing BI stack? Yes — dashboards can be sent to tools including Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, and Sigma, with Looker, monday.com, and Tableau support planned.
