Even Realities G2 Review 2026: Camera-Free Smart Glasses With a Green Text Display

Research reviewed October 2026. This is a research-based review — we analyzed published specs, pricing, and user feedback.

Quick verdict

✓ Best for:Daily glasses wearers who want notifications, navigation, captions and a teleprompter in-lens with no camera.
✕ Skip it if:You want photos, video or music from your glasses: the G2 has no camera and no speakers by design.
Bottom line: The Even Realities G2 ($599) are smart glasses that deliberately leave out the camera and speakers. In return you get a discreet green micro-LED heads-up display for notifications, navigation, live translation and a teleprompter — plus an optional $249 R1 ring controller. Based on launch specs and published reviews.

Launched in November 2025, the G2 is Even Realities’ second-generation everyday smart glasses. Where Meta’s glasses add cameras and open-ear audio, the G2 subtracts them — a privacy-first bet that glasses people actually wear all day should look ordinary and record nothing.

What the G2 does

A binocular green micro-LED display projects text into both lenses — notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, live translation and transcription, calendar alerts, a scrolling teleprompter, and answers from the Even AI assistant, all readable without looking down at a phone. Reported display figures are around a 25–27.5-degree field of view at up to roughly 1,000–1,200 nits of perceived brightness, in frames weighing about 36 grams. Battery life is quoted at up to about two days, and the prescription range is unusually wide, from -12.00 to +12.00.

The R1 ring

The optional Even R1 ($249) is a ceramic smart ring that works as a touch controller for the glasses — swipe and tap to scroll the display — while also tracking activity, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, temperature and sleep. It is the natural companion if you find temple controls fiddly, but it pushes the full package to roughly $850.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: no camera and no speakers, so bystanders have nothing to object to; light, ordinary-looking frames; genuinely useful text-first features (captions, translation, teleprompter); wide prescription support; long battery life for display glasses.
  • Cons: monochrome green text only — no video, no photos, no music from the glasses themselves; $599 is premium pricing, and the R1 adds $249 more; reviewers noted occasional wireless connection hiccups; prescription lenses cost extra.

Who is it for?

Glasses wearers who want information in their line of sight — speakers using a teleprompter, travelers using translation, professionals reading live captions — and who actively do not want a camera on their face. If you want to shoot video or listen to music, these are the wrong glasses on purpose.
