Town, the AI assistant built for teamwork, raised a $108 million Series B on October 19, 2026, at a $1 billion valuation. Why it matters: Town is betting the next step for AI assistants is not a smarter solo helper, but assistants that can work directly with each other across a whole team.

What happened
The round was co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures. Existing investors a16z and First Round Capital also participated, along with Better Tomorrow Ventures, Precedent.vc, Scribble Ventures, Serena Ventures, Sparked Ventures, and several angel investors. Town is based in San Francisco.
Town launched publicly in June 2026 with a $55 million Series A. The company says it reached seven figures of annual recurring revenue in weeks, and that since July 2026 paying customers have grown four times over while paying teams are up nine times.
How Townies work
Each person in a company gets a personal assistant called a Townie. A Townie connects to that person’s email, documents, calendar, and core work systems, and learns their projects, relationships, and voice.
The new pitch is what happens between Townies. They can ask each other questions, connect information across people, and hand off work, while still sharing only what their person would share and asking permission when needed. Town says Townies can also work directly with customers, partners, and candidates outside the company over email and text.
Teams can also set shared workflows once — for example, updating call-prep material when competitor battle cards change — and every rep’s Townie then follows the updated process.
Built for business control
Town says each company owns the context its Townies build, that nothing a customer connects is used to train a model by default, and that it is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant with a public data processing agreement. It also says it uses models from multiple major labs and picks the best model for each task, rather than locking customers into one provider.
Why it matters
Most AI assistants today speed up one person and then stop at the handoff — the update you need from finance, the access you need from operations, the input you need from sales. Town is trying to automate that waiting, not just the drafting. That is a harder product, with harder permission and privacy questions, but it is also where a lot of office time actually goes. A $1 billion valuation four months after public launch shows investors think team-level assistance, not another personal chatbot, could be the bigger business.
