Quick verdict
The short answer: Apple HomeView is Apple’s first dedicated smart-home display — a 7-inch, $299 hub that hangs on a wall or sits on a counter, recognises faces, and puts the AI-upgraded Siri in charge of your doorbells, thermostats and locks. For Apple households frustrated that HomePod never became a real home hub, this is the missing screen. For everyone else, it costs more than an Echo Show or Nest Hub while Siri AI still has to prove it is more than basic voice commands.
This is a research-based review. We have not tested HomeView hands-on; every fact below comes from Apple’s launch reporting on October 13, 2026 and published pricing. Prices checked October 2026.
What is Apple HomeView?
Unveiled in New York on October 13, 2026, HomeView is an iPad-like device meant to hang on walls or perch on tabletops and act as a hub for other smart-home devices. It features a 7-inch screen and face recognition, and its built-in camera can recognise up to six people and personalise Siri for each of them. Reporting from the launch showed Siri juggling voice requests from multiple family members at the same time.
The launch came with updated HomePod and Apple TV devices, plus accessories made by LG and Schneider Electric and designed with help from Apple — including a Schneider smart thermostat and LG indoor and outdoor cameras, a doorbell camera, a floodlight camera and a smart lock that can be unlocked using the Apple Home app. All of the new devices are accessible and managed in that app.
