OpenAI has added ChatGPT Slides, a collaborative presentation builder inside ChatGPT, and updated GPT-6 Pro so several agents can work on parts of the same task in parallel. Why it matters: ChatGPT is moving from answering questions to finishing team deliverables — decks included — in one place.
October 17, 2026 — Both changes appear in OpenAI’s release notes published Friday, October 16.
What happened: ChatGPT Slides
ChatGPT Slides lets users build and edit presentations inside Space, the project workspace OpenAI launched on September 29 to hold a project’s pages, files and other work in one place. A deck can be started from a conversation, from files, from an outline, or from an example presentation whose style and layout ChatGPT then follows.
Slides can be edited directly — text, images, shapes and charts — or by asking ChatGPT to make changes, including generating custom images. Teammates can edit the same deck in real time and leave shared comments, and presentations can be run directly from ChatGPT. On the web, decks export to PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides; in the desktop app, they can be opened in PowerPoint or Keynote when those applications are installed.
The feature is rolling out to eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users who have access to Space, on the web and in the desktop app. To start, users ask ChatGPT in Work mode to create a presentation in Space. The release notes do not say whether Slides costs anything extra, or whether it will reach the mobile app or other plans. It is separate from the ChatGPT add-in for PowerPoint, which has been generally available since July.
What changed in GPT-6 Pro
The same release notes update GPT-6 Pro in ChatGPT with faster responses, improved plugin and tool use, and multiple agents that can handle different parts of a task in parallel. While the agents work, their progress is visible in the Chat tab, and each completed task can be opened to review what that agent did.
The update is rolling out to eligible Pro users. In managed workspaces, availability depends on workspace settings and rollout eligibility. OpenAI published no figures for the speed improvement, no maximum agent count, and no detail on how parallel work affects usage limits — so the practical gain is something Pro users will have to measure on their own tasks.
Why it matters
Slides puts ChatGPT in direct competition with the tools teams already finish work in, rather than just drafting content to paste into them. The saving, for teams already working in Space, is skipping the copy-over step — but the open questions are the practical ones: how well a company template survives export, whether charts stay editable, and how permissions carry across. Parallel agents attack a different complaint: not that long agent runs are slow, but that they are silent. Visible per-agent progress makes delegated work reviewable before it is accepted. Everything AI, tested — and for Pro subscribers, both features are testable this week on a real internal deck and a real multi-part task.
Frequently asked questions
Who can use ChatGPT Slides?
Eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users with access to Space, on the web and in the ChatGPT desktop app. Rollout is gradual, so it may not appear in every eligible account at once.
What formats can ChatGPT Slides export?
On the web: PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides. In the desktop app, decks can be opened in PowerPoint or Keynote when those applications are installed.
What is new in GPT-6 Pro?
Faster responses, improved plugin and tool use, and parallel agents that split a task and work at the same time, with per-agent progress shown in the Chat tab. OpenAI has not published speed figures or a maximum agent count.
Is ChatGPT Slides the same as the ChatGPT add-in for PowerPoint?
No. The PowerPoint add-in works inside Microsoft’s program and has been generally available since July. Slides builds presentations natively inside ChatGPT and Space.
