TL;DR: Great Learning Academy is one of the easiest free starts in AI: a large library of free, self-paced beginner courses — including machine learning and AI topics — with a free certificate of completion when you pass the course quiz. Its Academy Pro tier, listed at ₹999/month on Great Learning’s own site, adds 40+ advanced courses and guided projects. The catch is audience: pricing and much of the catalogue are India-first, so check your regional price before planning around Pro.
What is Great Learning Academy?
Great Learning Academy is the free and low-cost learning arm of Great Learning, an education company best known for longer postgraduate and professional programs run with universities. The Academy itself is aimed at beginners and students: short, self-paced courses across artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, cloud, and programming, each ending with a quiz and a certificate of completion. You can enrol in multiple courses at once and keep free lifetime access to the free courses you take.

What is good about Great Learning Academy for AI beginners?
- Genuinely free, certificate included: many platforms make you pay to unlock the certificate. Here, passing the quiz earns it at no cost.
- Lifetime access to free courses: no 90-day countdown pressuring you to finish before access disappears.
- Broad beginner coverage: start with machine learning algorithms or AI projects and branch into data science, cloud, or programming on the same account.
- Take several courses at once: you can enrol in multiple free courses simultaneously and build your own sequence.
- A step up exists: Pro adds guided projects and practice exercises if the free material leaves you wanting structure.
What is not so good?
- Regional pricing friction: the headline Pro price is in rupees; learners elsewhere must check their local price, which may differ.
- Certificates are completion-level: a free completion certificate shows initiative, but it is not an exam-proctored credential and employers know the difference.
- Short-course depth: free courses introduce topics well but will not make you job-ready on their own.
- Upsell gravity: the Academy sits beside expensive postgraduate programs, and the marketing will remind you of them.
Who is Great Learning Academy best for?
Students and self-starters who want to learn AI and machine learning basics at zero cost, collect proof of completion, and decide later whether to invest in deeper study. It is especially natural for learners in India, where its pricing and wider program catalogue are centred.
Frequently asked questions
Is Great Learning Academy really free?
Yes for its free course library: enrolment and access are free, and the courses state free lifetime access. Academy Pro is the paid tier, listed at ₹999/month.
Do you get a certificate from Great Learning Academy?
Yes. You receive a course completion certificate after qualifying in the course quiz, at no extra charge on free courses.
Can I take more than one free course at a time?
Yes — you can sign up for multiple Academy courses at the same time and work through them at your own pace.
Will a Great Learning Academy certificate get me an AI job?

Verdict
As a free first step, Great Learning Academy is hard to argue with: real beginner AI and machine learning content, no payment wall around the certificate, and no access deadline. Go in knowing its limits — completion certificates and introductory depth — and it does exactly the job a free platform should.
